Interview With The Cool Dudess Lorilee

The Lipincott Family
Introducing Lorilee Lipincott a Queen amongst bloggers and an interesting, creative lady in her own right.

Welcome Lorilee...

Describe your possession and buying philosophy,
>
If it is something that will last more than 6 months I ask my self if I will still want it in 6 months... usually I don't.  Stuff has such a short life span that usually it isn't worth buying in the first place because it breaks or wears out (and costs money and pollutes the world or my house)

What are your tips for keeping your home clutter-free ?
>
First-don't buy stuff :)
>Second-I go through everything at least twice a year and get rid of stuff.   I don't have much so it doesn't take that long.  I also always have a place to collect 'donation' stuff so if I find something that I don't want (or don't want to put away) it has a place to collect.

What drives you nuts about " stuff " ?
>
Stepping on it, looking at it.  I love space and clear counters and tables.

Tell me about your radical " getting rid of the junk drawer activity "
>
We sold about 3/4 of our stuff over this spring and summer and moved from a 2000 sq ft house to a sparsely furnished 2 bedroom apartment.  Me, my husband and my 2 kids (7 and 4).

So tell me, where do you spend your money .
>
Vacations!  We took a 5 week road trip this summer and covered about 6000 miles in the west cost of Canada and the US.  ... now we are using it to pay for our new Prius, but hopefully we will have the extra to spend on vacations again soon.

What are your plans for the future ?
>
Less stuff and more vacations.  Families need time not junk.

Tell me about your home, how would you describe it to the readers?
>
Simple, uncluttered.  Never tons of mess, but never clean either (I have a 7 and 4 year old and we home school)

My website is www.lovingsimpleliving.com  where I talk about minimalist living, a simple life, simple families, simple food and simple home school.  ... because life should be simple.
