Porridge Is A Big Hit !


And Mine Is The Bowl That Tastes Juuuuust Right !
In an effort to save money and become more healthy, we have done away with the boxed cereal in our house. Porridge oats are our new breakfast du jour.

At $1.67 for 500g it certainly costs a whole lot less than the $5.99 for 450g. We have been trying it with honey, agave, fruit and berries, cinnamon and nutmeg...oh and oat milk and water. I really look forward to breakfast because the food is just so good and I don't get hungry until recess at school.

Alas, we ran out this morning and I forgot to get some more at the store, so in place of porridge and until I remember to get more, we will be having quinoa porridge, a veritable feast itself and a good replacement in the interim.

Quinoa Porridge



Ingredients


    1/2c quinoa


    1c water


    1/2 t. cinnamon


    pinch sea salt


    1/2c low-fat milk or unsweetened soy milk


    1 apple, diced


    1/2 c blueberries or sliced strawberries


    1/8c chopped pecans or walnuts and optional agave nectar




    Now, trough like Goldilocks !
